Sloanea macbrydei

 Form and Size: A tree to 12m with a bushy crown.

Distribution: Rainforests of north-eastern Qld.

Leaves: Oval, dark green, margins coarsely toothed, to 14cm x 6cm.

Flowers: Cream, about 1.5cm diameter; borne on terminal racemes to 8cm long.

 Flowering Period: August to October.

 Fruit: Green turning black, egg-shaped, prickly, 2-segmented, about 2.5cm long.

 Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from fresh seed. A slow growing tree, but one which is adaptable to varied conditions. Very showy when in flower.
