 Maytenus disperma

 Small tree of dry rainforests with rounded dense crown. Leaves are alternate, simple, entire, elliptical, with a blunt point.

The bark is grey and highly decorative with horizontal markings.

Flowers are white, in axillary racemes, with four petals and four stamens, which appear between August and December.

When ripe the fruit is a bright yellow capsule which splits to reveal one or two black seeds.
