Form and Size: A medium tree to 20m tall.
Distribution: An area centred on Charters Towers and extending from south of Townsville to the Burra Range
west of Pentland, north Qld.
Adult Leaves: Narrowly lance-shaped, lance-shaped or sickle-shaped, light green, dull to slightly glossy,
veins dense, 12-15cm x 1-2cm.
Bark: Blackish ironbark, hard, furrowed; smaller branchlets conspicuously yellow.
Buds: Egg-shaped, to 0.7cm long x 0.4cm wide; cap rounded, narrower than the base (resembles an egg in an
egg-cup).
Flowers: Creamy-white; borne in clusters of 7.
Flowering Period: August to September.
Fruit: Capsules, cup-shaped, rim thick, to 0.8cm x 0.8cm; valves 3 or 4, about level.
Distinguishing Features: May be distinguished from E. drepanophylla by the distinctly yellow branchlets
and the distinctively narrower bud caps.
Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from seed.
