Form and Size: A large, spreading tree, 8-20m high.
Distribution: From Coen, on Cape York Peninsula to Nowra, N.S.W.; in coastal areas and the slopes of the
Great Dividing Range.
Leaves: There are no true leaves; leaves are reduced to 4-5 tiny leaf-teeth on the nodes of
branchlets.
Bark: Fibrous, deeply furrowed.
Flowers: Male 1-2.5cm long, terminal; female on older wood.
Flowering Period: March to June.
Fruit: Cones, oval, about 2cm long, segments broad and blunt.
Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from seed. An attractive species which is adaptable to a wide range of soils
