Form and Size: Small rainforest tree with a dense crown.
Distribution: Highland rainforests of northeast Qld.
Leaves: Large, oval, dark green above, paler beneath, glossy. 7-24cm x 5-12cm.
Flowers: Small, yellowish, perfumed with a spicy fragrance, 4 petals, to 1cm diameter in dense clusters on
mature branches.
Flowering Period: November to April.
Fruit: White or cream, ribbed, 1-3cm diameter.
Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from fresh seed. Germination is usually difficult. Requires good soil and
regular moisture. Fruit is quite acidic to the taste and jam made from the fruit is very similar in taste to
marmalade.
